Yahoo support – I wave my white flag at you

Another fine example of moronic support from “Yahoo support”. For the background history, refer to the Get a load of this crap blog submission.

Hello,

Thank you for writing to Yahoo! Mail.

Unfortunately, we cannot provide you with specific information other
than to suggest a review of the questionnaire we supplied and try to
determine where your mailing practices may be improved upon.

In addition, you may refer to the Help page below, which offers
information on some of our recommended best practices for bulk mailers:

Please let us know if you still need assistance so we may assist you
further.

Your patience during this process is greatly appreciated.

Thank you again for contacting Yahoo! Mail.

Dear Mr. Immer,

Ultimately how I interpret your response is that “Yahoo support” is a very loose term and we, as a community, should set our expectations of your services low so that we aren’t disappointed.

You send a small start-up company, who sends less than a total of 20 emails a month to Yahoo customers, a link for bulk mailer compliance? Is this an automated response system or something. Does anyone actually read these support requests? According to your previous response, the way I can improve my emailing practices is to send MORE email to Yahoo. What kind of sense does that make? And what kind of sense does it make to send us a link about bulk emailing guidelines?

So – you win, I’ve finally had enough after three months of arguing about this. You can continue to mark our handful of emails as bulk and we will stop using any Yahoo services from this point forward. I will post this total mockery of what Yahoo calls a “support system” on all my blogs and will dissuade anyone I can possibly tell to not use Yahoo services of any kind in the future. If you deem >20 emails a month as potential abuse and target us as a bulk emailer then we have no use for you or your Draconian policies.

This is just another bad experience in a chain of many we’ve had with Yahoo – both business and non-business related. I’ll give you one thing – “Yahoo support” is, if nothing else, consistent. You’re doing a fine job…keep up the good work.
