My first Lakers game, Hayden’s new school

Filed under: Uncategorized — admin @ 1:04 am

The CEO of our company has season tickets to the Lakers that he gives out periodically. Our group was recently recognized as being the only group who came in under budget last year, somehow. One of our rewards was two tickets to the Lakers game against the Charlotte Bobcats last Friday which, for some reason, I received one of them. I’m the new guy on the block which is why I say “for some reason”. Anyway, I’ve never really been a basketball fan but it really is a different experience seeing it firsthand. By the end of the game I was cheering and really getting into it.

Since we’ve moved to Cali Hayden has been on a waiting list to get into pre-kindergarten at the school down the street. Nickey got a call on Wednesday that a spot had opened up so now he’s going to be starting on Monday. He’s really excited too. Hopefully he adapts well and makes some new friends. He’s been going on a few play dates lately which seem to have been good for him, and Nickey.

Nickey has decided to dedicate herself full time to her Southern Living @ Home business and has already started getting more business than she did in Washington. Her web site is up and running here and she just started sending out a monthly newsletter to keep her contacts current. She’s also got another side business @ pop-by.com that a friend of hers is helping to get off the ground by getting VC. I’m glad he’s doing it because I wouldn’t have the first clue on how to get venture capital….

I’m going to try to start updating the blog at least once a week. There’s a lot of stuff to keep updated on so it shouldn’t be too hard!

Our new home security system

What is more intimidating to a would-be burglar than two pitt bulls and a four year old karate master?

About two weeks ago we enrolled Hayden in karate for socialization, team participation, and to learn a little focus (he didn’t earn the nickname “wombat” by sitting around being a perfect angel). He has been really excited about it and he is *so* dang cute to watch out on the mats. When they start out they get a uniform but they don’t have a belt, they have to earn it. He has been doing a pretty good job and is starting to get a little more into the whole thing and on Saturday he finally got his white belt! It was a big day for all of us.
