First boating outting for the family

Filed under: Uncategorized — admin @ 6:04 pm

We finally took the boat out yesterday, the first time Nickey, Hayden, or Loki have been on the water on it. We were out for about an hour but the water was a little rough so we turned around and came back in. It was a good thing too because Hayden started throwing up a few times, guess he gets a bit sea-sick. Loki was fine but he was attaching himself to Nickey most of the time and was almost sitting in her lap for part of the trip. When we came back in Nickey and Hayden changed clothes (due to pukefest 2005 part 2 – see the post “What did YOU have for lunch” from 2/28/2005 for details on part 1) and then we tied up at Anthony’s Home Port for dinner. After dinner the ride back to the marina was really cool because the sky was dark blue and the horizon was a light blue where the sun was fading away. We didn’t get home until after midnight but I think we’re all glad we were able to go.

One thing I forgot to mention on my last post as a VERY notable point is that Hayden’s last name has officially (legally) been changed to mine. Yea!!

The boat and other such non-sense

I’ll start with the most recent first, then try to muddle my way back through all the things that have happened since the last post way back when.

I got the outdrive for the boat fixed and finally got it back (after almost 2 months – one of which was my fault) last week. We – Nickey, Hayden, Loki and I all made a voyage up there today to install the dang thing. Note to self – it is not a good idea to take a child and a dog to do something that is going to take an unknown amount of time, and possibly a very long time. We got up there about 2:15ish and didn’t leave for home until after 8pm. That is a LONG time for an almost 3 year old and a puppy to stay entertained. It wouldn’t have been so bad except that I had to make 2 trips to the store for stuff and I had a helluva time getting the driveshaft knuckle past the (*new* mind you) protective rubber enclosure. I forgot it’s actual name at the moment. If anyone needs some pointers on how to do that I’ve got it down now. I finally got everything I needed, got it all installed, and then proceeded to have a hard time starting it. It’s been about a year since it’s been started so it’s no wonder. Finally got it started, tested the forward and reverse, and everything works great now. I took my time with it because the the rebuild of the outdrive cost almost $5k so I really wanted to make sure everything was installed the right way. We are going to try to go out on it tomorrow night if I can get off work at 5pm. We are going to keep it through this year and sell it next spring. We are also going to move it closer (once a few things have been finished up first) so we can enjoy…and work on….it. As of now it takes almost an hour and a half to get to the boat. Not condusive to spontaneous fun.

Lesse – major highlights.

Nickey is working from home full time now and has taken Hayden out of daycare because of that. She’s been doing things like swimming lessons with him and Mommy and Me Aerobics. On around 7/9 or so Hayden went potty in his…potty…for the first time, three times in one day. Not a drop has been left in the potty since then :(.

Nickey got a new car on the 13th of this month. It’s a 2003 Saturn Ion. She’s really happy with it. It’s got a sunroof, it’s black, and it’s pretty peppy. All that and it get’s about 30mpg. Nice.

We had a 4th of July pot-luck party at our new digs. It was pretty fun but I didn’t get to blow up anything. Later that night Nickey, Hayden and I took chairs out in the cul-de-sac and watched the fireworks. We have at least a 180 degree view so we got to see quite a few displays.

The last few remnants of the move are finally getting put into place and the old homestead looks organized finally. Not too many boxes left except for the ones of mine left in the office – shouldn’t be of any surprise to anyone who knows me.

I know I’m missing a lot of stuff but I just can’t think of anything right now. It’s hard for me to believe but it’s just past midnight and I’m up past my bedtime. Last year at this time bed wasn’t even a consideration yet. If I remember more later I’ll try to update, I do think about it sometimes 😉
