I just had to post this

Filed under: Uncategorized — admin @ 5:45 pm

I am truely a lucky man. This is from an email that Nickey sent to me today and I just had to post it. I love this woman so much.

Subject: Lucky to have you

I am so lucky to have you in my life. I adore and love you so much! You are a wonderful man and words cannot convey how much you mean to me. Just thinking about these feelings makes me tingle all over – I have butterflies in my stomach just like the ones I had at the Melting Pot. I feel like these feelings should be left for teenagers – I don’t know if you understand what I am saying: it feels great to actually love and be love in return. I never feel less or more when I am with you; you always make me feel needed.

You are a very giving man in every way (yes I am spoiled), and most of all you make me feel safe, emotionally and mentally. Thank you for being part of my life. I’m very happy with you and I could not ask for a better man than you. Thank you for loving me despite of my shortcomings and emotional rollercoastering. Thank you for being an exceptional man – you are one of a kind!

Road trip!! Who can I make mad today?

Filed under: Uncategorized — admin @ 2:52 pm

We’ve been doing a lot of driving trips lately on the weekends, and this weekend was no exception. We took a drive down through Des Moines to the waterfront and then drove along the waterfront to Fife (of all places). We then went to Ballard and let Hayden play in the play thingy at McDonalds for about a half hour or so, then drove to Kirkland to pick up the baby sitter – ‘cuz we had plans for the night. We got home with just enough time to acclimate the babysitter (who was spending the night at our place so we could stay out later) and head back out the door again to go to a friends house. We got to the friends house, went to a place I can’t remember the name of for drinks and dinner, then went to The Swiss to go dancing and stuff. We had a great time at The Swiss even though one of the two other couples we were with were fighting almost the whole night and ended up leaving early. We got home about 1am and then proceeded to give the neighbors something to complain about 😉

On Sunday we headed towards southern Western Washington with no real destination in mind. We made it as far as Battleground – which is about 25 miles from Portland. There were three notable things that either happened or we saw along the way, 1) Got a call that my wedding band was available for pickup (we ALMOST turned around then to go get it – about 1/2 hour into the trip), 2) we saw a huge sign on the side of the road that said “Welcome to America, now speak english”. Whoa. We tried to get a picture of it but we were moving too fast, and 3) we saw a real live camel walking around in a field with cows in Battleground. WTF? Who has a camel? We did get pictures of that guy.

We made it back just in time to pick up my ring from the jewlers. It’s really cool looking – it’s 14k white gold with a woven pattern down the middle, a thin rope pattern on either side of the woven part and then a polished strip on the outside of that. We decided that since Nickey already had her wedding and engagement bands soldered together (since we had to resize it anyway) and she was wearing them that I would wear my wedding band too. As far as we’re concerned we’re already married in our hearts anyway. Hehe – let’s see who this part pisses off. There are a few people out there who seem to be unreasonably upset that Nickey and I are together…. It’s their problem not ours. All three of us are healthy and happy and we don’t live our lives based on other peoples oppinions.

Aw crap, forgot to mention

Hayden and I got fitted for our tuxes for the wedding this past Saturday. Dang he is a cute kid, then put a tux on him and he’s super cute! He didn’t want to try on the stuff but then once it was on he didn’t want to take it off. I think he realized just how cute he was. He tried on the shoes after changing back into his regular clothes and used them like tap shoes all around the shop. Hopefully he’ll want to keep the tux on during the wedding, he’d rather walk around naked right now than with clothes on….. It would be funny though to have a naked little ring bearer walk down the aisle! LOL

Sunday drive

We sure like our weekends, two days of uninterupted family time. This weekend we did a few things on Saturday that needed to get done but yesterday we just kind of picked a direction and went.

We ended up deciding to take a drive to Pt Townsend for the day. This was the second time Hayden has been on a ferry, although this time we didn’t leave the Yuke, but he did get to see lots of birds and water which he seemed to like. We drove past the Inn that I suggested we stay at for Valentines day (Resort at Port Ludlow) then headed on to PT. When we got there we stopped at the south (or big”) marina and walked along the docks for a bit, until Hayden started getting a little too bold at the edges of the dock and we were afraid he was going to end up wet. He was like a kid in a candy store and was having such a good time, he was pretty upset when we had to leave. After that we drove through town and saw a few of the sights then headed out to Fort Warden.

At Fort Warden we walked all through the tunnels and all around the gunnery stations. Then we went down to the beach and threw rocks in the water, which Hayden aproached with extreme vigor. We all had a great time but I think H got the most enjoyment out of it because every time we stopped and did something then had to leave he would have a fit and didn’t want to go. He was so well behaved all day though, which was impressive considering how long we had been driving.

We left PT, took the ferry back, and stopped to have dinner in Edmonds at Anthony’s Home Port. I really love seafood, it’s a good thing Nickey likes it too. Seems I always find people who DON’T like seafood for some reason. Just one more reason we’re perfect for each other. I sure love these two.

SOI? "Whassat?"

Went to Stars on Ice on Wednesday. Now I have one more thing I can’t make fun of people for, watching non-competitive ice skating. I actually enjoyed it – but if you tell anyone then I’ll hunt you down. Afterwards we went to Minnie’s Cafe for a bite to eat. I’d never been there before but it was pretty much like a cleaned up Beth’s Cafe with a lighter menu. We then went to pick up Hayden from the sitters and I got to see firsthand exactly why you don’t wake a sleeping baby. Man he was pissed.

Speaking of Hayden, he’s going through a “What’s that” phase. Almost as fast as you can answer he’s on to the next “Whatssat?” thing. We had a lot of fun last night playing in his room, I even got in his crib and layed down with him as a joke but he really seemed to like it and didn’t want me to leave! I sure dig that little dude. It’s going to be fun watching him grow up.

Long overdue update

Editor’s note 😉 –

So as you can prolly tell, my blog isn’t an important part of my existance anymore like it used to be. I will try to maintain it from time to time but the daily, or even multiple daily updates are most likely a thing of the past. It’s more a matter of time than anything else. I used to have buttloads of free time before (and I was bored as hell), but now I choose to spend any and all I have with my new family. So check back, but just not as often.

End editor’s note

On to current events, I’ll start with the most recent then try to strain my brain to remember anything before Friday.

On Sunday we went on what started out as a day cruise to Leavenworth but ended up spending the night just for the fun of it. We stayed in the HoJo over there in what was a “concept room” designed for kids. It was outfitted with lots of Crayola stuff so I had a pretty good time…oh yeah, and so did Hayden :). While we were over there we checked out Ohme Gardens (from a distance since it’s closed) and the hotel where the reception is going to be held. Yesterday morning was the first time in my life that I can ever remember being up early enough for the complimentary continental breakfast. We had breakfast then headed for home through Blewett Pass. The temp was in the single digits for part of the drive back and I hit some slippery pavement too. I was really glad I had the Yuke with the auto 4WD.

For New Years Nickey and I went on an Argosy Cruise in Elliot Bay. It was a four course dinner with dancing and party favors. We had a couple of bottles of wine and then a champagne toast at midnight. We had an incident in the mens bathroom that raised a few eyebrows when we came out (nothing like the mile high club or anything unfortunately, but we had them all guessing ;)). Before we got on the boat they took our picture, which I’ll have to scan so I can put it up at http://chrisandnickey.com when I get the site up.

Christmas day afternoon we spent at my mom’s place which was the first time my mom met Nickey and Hayden. It got the “thumbs up” from my mom of course. She’s prolly in shock that I’m even getting married at all since I’ve told her to not count on grand children from me in the past. Anyway, it was a good time and good food.

Lesse – purchases. I recently bought a 802.11g access point and two pcmcia cards to convert from B to G at home finally. I bought a coupla shirts from thinkgeek.com for Nickey and Hayden – Nickey: “I (heart) my Geek” and “Chicks dig Unix”, Hayden: picture of Tux in a diaper, picture of a computer with “Newbie” below it, and (front of shirt) “Input” with an arrow pointing up (back of shirt) “Output” with an arrow pointing down. I also got Hayden a stuffed Tux as well. Gotta start that boy out right and get him in the Linux frame of mind before the Windows “techies” get a hold of him. We went to lunch the other day and I overheard some Windows geeks talking shop. When they left they noticed Nickeys “Chicks dig Unix” shirt – ah, sweet victory. Hehe. I think that’s all the purchasing I’ve done lately. Hm, slow month I guess!

Back to work….
