Great day in SoCal

It was a really nice day today – I even left for work a little late so I could stay and enjoy the morning outside with the dogs. They are really such hams these days, so happy and always ready to play. I took a few extra breaks at work today to go out and enjoy the sunshine. Tonight is comfortable and cloudless. I took a long swim after I got home and just floated around while the dogs played. All-in-all not a bad day.

I’m really looking forward to this weekend. My friend comes in to town Friday night and is going to spend the whole weekend here. Unfortunately that means I need to pick up the pace on cleaning up the house, but I think I can get it done in time. Not sure exactly what we’re going to do yet but I have a couple of ideas that should be pretty fun.

Woops, missed a part of the story

I just realized that I didn’t mention a few things in my previous two posts about the accident. Let me fill in the gaps.

So there was the accident. After she hit me she tried to get away. I followed her but she got stuck up in traffic at a light and then she finally pulled over when she realized I got her license plate number. We started exchanging information, she got hung up on the fact that the registration I gave her (which I was in no way obligated to do) was expired. Then she got hostile saying that she didn’t even know if the car was mine. She tried to take the paper I wrote her information down on out of my pocket and started wrestling with me to get it. After that she kicked the car, she chased after me, she went into my car and grabbed a bunch of papers I had in there, took my phone out of the car and threw it on the ground, and she hit me in the chest with the back of her hand. All of this because she got upset that I rolled up my windows – I didn’t even look at her when I did it or make any kind of inference that I was upset she was playing her music so loud. I guess some people feel it’s their right to impose themselves on others.

I don’t really like the way the LAPD handles accidents. They don’t fill out accident reports and might not even show up to the scene, which was the case in this incident. I called them, reported the accident, they told me an officer would not be dispatched unless there was “property damage” – i.e. other than our vehicles – or an injury and that we should just exchange information. I found out at the police station while filling out the police report that all anyone is obligated to do in an accident situation in LA County is stop the car, roll down the window, identify themselves by stating their name and then they can drive away LEGALLY. That is ALL they are obligated to do. Even if the other party isn’t ready to write down the name, it doesn’t matter – the law has been followed.

Wow.

Not just one charge, but several

Filed under: crazy woman, driving in LA — admin @ 6:29 pm

The family and I went to the police station on Saturday morning and filed a report. When all was said and done we had several charges against the woman who rear-ended me. We had assault, battery, theft, and something like vehicle abuse or something similar to that (from when she kicked my car door). Apparently she’s had a history of DUI’s and she just got her license back about a month ago. Nice. I didn’t even notice it, but Nickey said that my shorts were ripped from the struggle when the crazy woman tried to grab the paper out of my pocked that I had written her stuff down on.

How bizarre.
